Customer story
Bike Yard Kenya: the shop Debian POS grew out of.
A motorcycle safety gear shop in Donholm, Nairobi, selling helmets, jackets and riding gear in store and online since 2022.
Bike Yard was founded to make Kenyan roads safer for riders, which means carrying gear that meets international standards at prices riders can manage. Much of it is ordered in from abroad, so knowing what each item really cost, landed in Nairobi, decides whether it makes money.
The shop needed more than a till. It needed stock in batches with buying prices, imports followed from the supplier to the shelf, pre-orders with deposits for gear not yet in, loyalty for riders who come back, and a view of how each member of staff is selling.
That system became Debian POS. Every part of it ran at Bike Yard first, and still does: when a screen slows the counter down, it changes there before it changes for anyone else.
